About Us

Associazione Culturale L’Aurora is an accredited Community Language School by DEECD. The school has supported and promoted the teaching of the Italian language and culture in Melbourne for over 40 years. It had its beginnings in 1969 when it started Saturday classes at St Matthews Primary School. The school is managed by an independent council, as a non-profitable organisation.

Associazione Culturale L’Aurora caters for students from Prep to Year 12. Classes are held out of school hours in centers which are located in primary and secondary catholic and government schools.

The school is a non-denominational school, which welcomes students of all cultural and religious backgrounds. While it encourages students of an Italian background to enrich the language they are already accustomed to, it also accepts primary and secondary students to learn the language.

L’Aurora is committed to small class sizes at all levels. It does this in order to ensure maximum individual attention and interaction both orally and written. The V.C.E. assistance classes act as an enrichment program for V.C.E. students. All individual students at L’Aurora Italian School have the opportunity to build on their regular school program and excel beyond the level they are placed in at school. This program also can provide an alternative pathway for students who are not able to study Italian at their regular school.

L’Aurora has an expectation that all students will continue to achieve success in the Italian language. Through language immersion, L’Aurora allows all students to feel confident in using the language competently with the community at large.

The school is determined to preserve its Italian tradition and values, while responding to an educational environment which is constantly changing. The Associazione Culturale L’Aurora looks to the future with confidence and certainty in its role and position within the total educational and cultural environment.

Associazione Culturale L’Aurora is a child safe school.
